Smudging is performed by burning certain herbs in
order to create
a cleansing bath of smoke which has a purpose to
purify individuals, animals, ceremonial and
sacred space, along with your sacred items.
The primary herbs used are 100% Pure Indian Tobacco,
White Sage, Sweet Grass, Cedar, Juniper, Rosemary
and
Lavender.

| White Sage is primarily used as a purifying agent and cleanser. The purpose of the smoke is to remove negative energies. The powerful cleansing vibration White Sage emits when burned, not only purifies the aura field, but also your personal space, healing tools such as your crystals, pendants, ceremonial items, etc. |
| Cedar is used in a similar way to cleanse and bring balance to the emotions and to the male/female (yin/yang) elements. Cedar is also used to clear one's actions and to promote forgiveness. Lavender can be added to the mixture to bring the quality of spiritual blessing. |
| Braided Sweet Grass is often burned separately after the White Sage or smudge mixture has been used. It brings sweetness and beauty into one's life and one’s surroundings. You can offer a prayer to this effect as the braid is lit. |
